The Community Foundation of Morgan County, Inc. offers Morgan County residents the opportunity to be awarded scholarships based on selection criteria requested by the donor.
[New] Dorothy Asher Scholarship: Provides scholarships for Morgan County residents of any age attending an accredited two- or four-year public or private institution of higher education and are studying elementary education. Recipients must agree to attempt to obtain employment, if available, in Morgan County, Indiana for at least one year upon completion of their education. Scholarships may be awarded annually to the same recipient if the foundation deems this appropriate for the progress the student may make. Applications Page
Pat Bartram Memorial Scholarship: Providing scholarships for Morgan County students wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement. Applications Page
Meaghan Buis Memorial Scholarship: Providing a scholarship each year for a student graduating from Eminence High School. The recipient shall have a GPA of at least 3.2 on a 4.0 scale and shall have participated in the Eminence High School girls or boys basketball program. Applications Page
Archie and Blanche Burnett Memorial Scholarship: Providing scholarships to graduates of Eminence High School, based on academic ability. Priority will be given to students attending Indiana University or Purdue University, but all applicants will be considered. Applications Page
Eminence Alumni Association Scholarship: Providing scholarships to graduates of Eminence High School. Applicants for academics must have a 3.0 GPA. Paid the second semester of each year. Applicants for vocational scholarships must have a 2.3 GPA. Two special 600 words or less essays are required. One essay should indicate the applicant’s goals after graduating from high school and/or trade school and the other 600 words essay stating financial need is required. Applications Page
SSG Wm. Ryan Fritsche Memorial Scholarship: Provide scholarships to one or more graduating seniors from any Morgan County High School who are accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution. Applicants should have a 2.5 GPA or higher.(on a 4.0 scale) Applicants must supply three letters of reference: Two from school personnel and one from an outside source, i.e., an employer, pastor, etc. Students should be applying for or in a course of study leading to public service work, such as: law enforcement, medical work, social work, child services, etc. In addition to the CFMC essay questions on the standard application, applicants must complete a 500-750 word essay with the following quote from J.F. Kennedy as the main theme of the piece: “And so my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.”(J.F. Kennedy, Inaugural Speech, January 20, 1961) As funds are available, the scholarship may be open to applicants who live in Morgan County and are in their first or second year of college. Maggie Grounds Scholarship: Providing scholarships to a female or male high school senior entering the field of architecture, contracting/building engineering, traditional drafting, architectural computer-aided design or another very closely-related study, pharmacy, nursing, in an accredited institution of higher education. [New] Newburn-Asher Scholarship: Provides scholarships for Morgan County residents of any attending an accredited two- or four-year public or private institution of higher education and are studying in the health care field.
