Each scholarship has its own distinct selection criteria, such as financial need, special interest/intended study or GPA requirement. No two scholarships are alike, so please review all the details in order to determine which scholarships best fit your situation.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program  

   The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program offers two full-tuition scholarships for Morgan County who will have graduated by the end of June, 2009 with a diploma from a regionally accredited Indiana high school and who will be first time college students.

   Since the Lilly Endowment Scholarship Program was first offered in 1998, Lilly remains steadfast in its belief that education at all levels is indispensable to the personal, civic, and economic well being of our community. These scholarships must be used to pursue baccalaureate degrees at any accredited public or private Indiana college or university beginning in the fall of 2009. The Endowment hopes that this program will encourage many of Indiana’s most talented students to attend one of Indiana’s fine higher education institutions and after graduation, consider pursuing occupations in Indiana.

   Morgan County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship weighted selection criteria is as follows: academic performance, 30%; financial need, 20%; school/community activities, 15%; essay, 10%; interview, 10%; personal characteristics, 10%; and work experience, 5%.

Community Foundation of Morgan County, Inc. Scholarship Program for High School Senior Morgan County Residents  

   The Community Foundation of Morgan County, Inc. offers Morgan County residents the opportunity to be awarded scholarships based on selection criteria requested by the donor of each scholarship fund.

 

  Pat Bartram Memorial Scholarship:  Providing scholarships for Morgan County students wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement. 

 

   Devin Wade Deaton Memorial Scholarship:  Providing a scholarship based on financial need for a graduate of Mooresville High School who wishes to continue his/her education at a college or vocational school.  Funds may be provided for a student with financial need who is enrolled in the Ben Davis High School Building Trades Program.  An award may also be made to the winner of the State VICA award. 

 

   Charles F. and Olive B. Flater Memorial Scholarship:  Providing an annual reimbursement scholarship for a student graduating from Mooresville High School who demonstrates overall academic preparedness; the ability to communicate future educational plans and the reasoning behind those plans; the ability to adjust to new learning and living environments; and exemplary ethical and moral conduct as it relates to school, fellow students, and faculty. 

 

   Maggie Grounds Scholarship:  Providing scholarships to a female or male high school senior entering the field of architecture, contracting/building engineering, traditional drafting, architectural computer-aided design, or another very closely-related study, pharmacy, nursing, in an accredited institution of higher education. 

 

   SSG Wm. Ryan Fritsche Memorial Scholarship: Providing scholarships to one or more graduating seniors from any Morgan County High School who are accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution.  Applicants should have a 2.5 GPA or higher (on a 4.0 scale).  Applicants must supply three letters of reference: Two from school personnel and one from an outside source, i.e., an employer, pastor, etc.  Students should be applying for or in a course of study leading to public service work, such as: law enforcement, medical work, social work, child services, etc.  In addition to the CFMC essay questions on the standard applications, applicants must complete a 500-750 word essay with the following quote from J.F. Kennedy as the main theme of the piece: And so my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country." (J.F. Kennedy, Inaugural Speech, January 20, 1961) As funds are available, the scholarship may be open to applicants who live in Morgan County and are in their first or second year of college. 

 

   Alexander A. Hathaway Scholarship:  An annual scholarship awarded to a student who graduated from Mooresville High School and who is accepted to and planning to attend an accredited nursing school. 

 

   Justin and Bonita Conduitt Marley Scholarship:  Providing reimbursement scholarships for books and/or tuition to students graduating from Mooresville High School or Monrovia High School.  These scholarships shall be divided equally between the two high schools and shall be for students entering vocational training, the field of education, or the field of library science. 

 

   Velma Hackleman-Mendenhall Memorial Scholarship:   Providing a scholarship each spring for a student graduating from Mooresville High School who wishes to pursue either a 2- or 4-year degree in post-secondary education.  The recipient must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. 

 

   Sergeant Dan Starnes Memorial Scholarship:  Providing scholarships for Morgan County residents to study law enforcement. 

 

   Steven Lee Robert Terrell Memorial Scholarship: Providing a scholarship for a senior graduating from Mooresville High School who has participated in athletics and is seeking to continue his or her education.

 

   Jennifer Tipmore Memorial Scholarship:  Provide annual scholarship to a student graduating from Mooresville High School.  Requirements:  GPA of at least 3.0, demonstrate good character and financial need and shall enroll in and attend a 2-to 4 year program at a vocational/technical school or at an accredited college or university. 

 

   TOA-USA Scholarship:  Providing a scholarship to a graduate of Mooresville High School for the purpose of reimbursing tuition and/or expenses related to enrollment in a post-secondary educational institution. Criteria will be based on the degree of need and the work ethic demonstrated by the graduate while in high school.


   Forrest A. Wakeman / Mooresville Masonic Lodge Scholarship:  Providing a scholarship for a graduating senior of Mooresville High School with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on 4.0 scale, preference to a student who has a history of community service and exhibits a belief in a Supreme Being. Applicants are required to submit an essay of at least 250 words on why they are proud to be an American. 

Kendrick Foundation, Inc. Scholarships  

  The Kendrick Foundation, Inc. Scholarships will provide support for Morgan County residents who are pursuing a career in the health care field. The scholarships are for tuition only, up to a maximum of $15,000 per person per year after deducting other financial aid which also pays tuition. The program is open to all Morgan County, Indiana residents:

  • Who have graduated by the end of June, 2009, with a diploma from an Indiana high school or an equivalent education
  • Who have been accepted into a program at an accredited college, university, or other educational institution to complete a course of study in a health care field (including medicine, dentistry, allied health, and nursing) beginning in the fall of 2009

    Note: Acceptance into a pre-program such as pre-med or pre-pharmacy
    does not qualify for this scholarship program.

   The scholarship recipients are completely free to choose which educational institution they would like to attend, with preference being given to candidates who will attend Indiana schools.
