Each scholarship has its own distinct selection criteria, such as financial need, special interest/intended study or GPA requirement. No two scholarships are alike, so please review all the details in order to determine which scholarships best fit your situation.

We Are No Longer Accepting Lilly Endowment Scholarship Applications this Year**

   The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program offers two full-tuition scholarships for Morgan County who will have graduated by the end of June, 2013 with a diploma from a regionally accredited Indiana high school and who will be first time college students.

   Since the Lilly Endowment Scholarship Program was first offered in 1998, Lilly remains steadfast in its belief that education at all levels is indispensable to the personal, civic, and economic well being of our community. These scholarships must be used to pursue baccalaureate degrees at any accredited public or private Indiana college or university beginning in the fall of 2013. The Endowment hopes that this program will encourage many of Indiana’s most talented students to attend one of Indiana’s fine higher education institutions and after graduation, consider pursuing occupations in Indiana.

   Morgan County Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship weighted selection criteria is as follows: academic performance, 30%; financial need, 20%; school/community activities and/or work experience, 20%; essay, 15%; interview, 10%; personal characteristics, 5%.

We Are No Longer Accepting CFMC Scholarship Applications this Year**

Dorothy Asher Scholarship:  Provides scholarships for Morgan County residents of any age attending an accredited two- or four-year public or private institution of higher education and are studying elementary education. Recipients must agree to attempt to obtain employment, if available, in Morgan County, Indiana for at least one year upon completion of their education. Scholarships may be awarded annually to the same recipient if the foundation deems this appropriate for the progress the student may make.

SSG Wm. Ryan Fritsche Memorial Scholarship:  Provide scholarships to one or more graduating seniors from any Morgan County High School who are accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution.  Applicants should have a 2.5 GPA or higher.(on a 4.0 scale)  Applicants must supply three letters of reference: Two from school personnel and one from an outside source, (i.e., an employer or pastor).  Students should be applying for, or in a course of study leading to public service work, such as: law enforcement, medical work, social work, or child services.  In addition to the CFMC essay questions on the standard application, applicants must complete a 500-750 word essay with the following quote from J.F. Kennedy as the main theme of the piece: “And so my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country.”(J.F. Kennedy, Inaugural Speech, January 20, 1961)  As funds are available, the scholarship may be open to applicants who live in Morgan County and are in their first or second year of college.

Maggie Grounds Scholarship:  Providing scholarships to a female high school senior entering the field of architecture, contracting/building engineering, traditional drafting, architectural computer-aided design or another very closely-related study, in an accredited institution of higher education.

Newburn-Asher Scholarship: Provides scholarships for Morgan County residents of any age attending an accredited two- or four-year public or private institution of higher education and are studying in the health care field. Recipients must agree to attempt to obtain employment, if available, in Morgan County, Indiana for at least one year upon completion of their education. Scholarships may be awarded annually to the same recipient if the foundation deems this appropriate for the progress the student may make.

Jeff Quyle Leadership Scholarship: The scholarship will offer five separate awards each year for college expenses; awards will be made to graduating seniors of any high school in Morgan County, Indiana who are residents of Morgan County; the goal is to assist students of high academic achievement and potential and, in addition, students who have demonstrated personal leadership in their lives within their schools and communities.

Gordon Leigh Speer Memorial Scholarship: Providing a scholarship to two different graduating seniors from any high school in Morgan County or from Indian Creek High School (with no restriction as to county of residence) who will study engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.  The scholarship may be used for any college expenses.  This scholarship honors Gordon Leigh Speer, who raised eight children, shared a strong work ethic with his family, and honored the cause and benefits of education.  A recommendation by a Scholarship Selection Committee will be made to the Scholarship Committee of the Community Foundation of Morgan County.

Sergeant Dan Starnes Memorial Scholarship:  Providing scholarships for Morgan County residents to study law enforcement.

We Are No Longer Accepting Kendrick Foundation Scholarship Applications this Year**

   The Kendrick Foundation, Inc. Scholarships will provide support for Morgan County residents who are pursuing a career in the health care field. The scholarships are for tuition only, up to a maximum of $15,000 per person per year after deducting other financial aid which also pays tuition. The program is open to all Morgan County, Indiana residents:

• Who have graduated by the end of June 2013, with a diploma from an Indiana high school or an equivalent education
  
• Who have been accepted into a program at an accredited college, university, or other educational institution to complete a course of study in a health care field (including medicine, dentistry, allied health, and nursing) beginning in the fall of 2013. Note: If your desired degree program has a late acceptance date, go ahead and apply for the Kendrick Scholarship and note "acceptance pending."
  
  Note: Acceptance into a pre-program such as pre-med or pre-pharmacy does not qualify for this scholarship program.

   The scholarship recipients are completely free to choose which educational institution they would like to attend, with preference being given to candidates who will attend Indiana schools.
