Tom Zoss to Retire this Fall: Search Opening - Tuesday, June 17, 2014

Tom Zoss, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Morgan County, has announced his retirement this fall. A search for his replacement will begin soon to locate the next person to head the office that does the work of the Community Foundation and also the Kendrick Foundation here in Morgan County.

Connie Neininger, Department of Agriculture to Speak at this Year's Farmers Breakfast - Monday, June 16, 2014
Morgan County farmers and business owners are invited to enjoy a free meal and “food for thought” at the Sixth Annual Morgan County Farmers Breakfast hosted by the Community Foundation of Morgan County on Tuesday, July 29. Ron Taylor Memorial Ride Raises $5,000 - Monday, June 16, 2014
A check for $5,000 from the Ron Taylor Memorial Ride was donated to the Martinsville Youth Center this week. In a small ceremony held at the Community Foundation of Morgan County Jeff Buskirk, who organized the memorial ride, presented the check to representatives from the Martinsville Youth Center. Also in attendance was Kathy Taylor, Ron’s widow.  read more ...

CFMC Announces 2014 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program Recipients & Finalists

Two Morgan County students have been named this year’s Community Foundation of Morgan County 2014 Lilly Endowment Community Scholars. These scholarships are the largest awarded each year by the foundation. Jessica N. McDaniel and Ryan W. Crafts will each receive full tuition for four years to the Indiana college of their choice and a $900 yearly stipend for required books and equipment. read more ...
Hardly Trivial: Successful New CFMC Fundraiser

This past Friday night, March 14, 2014, the Community Foundation of Morgan County successfully hosted its inaugural “Hardly Trivial” Trivia Night. Fifteen energized teams came together for this team competition fundraiser that tested their trivia knowledge. The Hoosier Wild Mustang & Burro Association’s team “Wild Horses” won first place, followed closely by the team “Williams for Superior Court,” which took second place by only one point in the final rounds.  read more ...
Celebrating Community Foundations

A resolution honoring Indiana’s community foundations and the field’s centennial anniversary was adopted this week by the Indiana Senate. “On the field’s 100th anniversary, we want to celebrate all the good work being done by community foundations throughout America and especially right here in Indiana,” said Senator Randy Head (R) from Logansport, who offered the resolution. “In communities throughout the state, the generosity of countless donors and partner organizations continues to make life better for all of us.” read more ...
New CFMC Signature Fundraiser

The Community Foundation of Morgan County is hosting its inaugural “Hardly Trivial” Trivia Night for all ages. This fundraiser will be a team competition where contestants will test their trivia knowledge to win prizes and bragging rights, while helping support the operating fund at the CFMC. This event is open to families, friends, office mates, schools, churches, or anyone interested in having fun and supporting the CFMC.


Teams of 4 to 10 people are $100 before February 28th, and registration forms can be found on the CFMC website.

CFMC Adds New Scholarships for Mooresville and Monrovia High School Students

Two new scholarships have been added to the list of scholarships offered through the Community Foundation of Morgan County (CFMC) this week: The Kaitlyn Fulkerson Memorial Scholarship was established to commemorate and celebrate the life of Kaitlyn Fulkerson who would have graduated with the Mooresville High School class of 2014. The Monrovia New Horizons Scholarship provides scholarships to one or more graduating seniors from Monrovia High School who have been accepted into an accredited 2 or 4 year public or private institution.

Smithville Charitable Foundation Funds Grain Bin Entrapment Project

Morgan County is seeking to ensure the safety of its farming community by working with local leaders: Tom Zoss of the Community Foundation of Morgan County, Chris Parker of the Morgan County Cooperative Extension Office, and Steve Brock of the Morgan County Emergency Medical Service. The organizations that these individuals represent are helping to prepare Morgan County to respond quickly to farm grain bin entrapment by properly utilizing three life-saving devices from Grain Systems, Inc. known as “GSI RES-Q-Tubes.”

Mt. Olive Manufacturing Donates $30,000 to Support Technical Education in Morgan County

Business owners Steve and Lisa Langley today announced a new fund at the Community Foundation of Morgan County (CFMC), Mt. Olive Manufacturing in Mooresville will donate $20,000 to establish a fund to be administered to benefit the Mooresville High School’s growing technical education programs. Additionally, the Langleys have initiated a $10,000 fund to provide four $2,500 scholarship awards in 2014 for one male and one female recipient at both Mooresville and Martinsville High Schools. read more ...
